So I have decided to change the name of my blog to musings of a longarm quilter,  I'm not quite sure what musings means,  but my meaning is ramblings.   This will be my place to put the quilts that I am doing for myself,  I have a lot of quilts tops,  I think a lot of longarm quilters do have.  Because we tend to do our clients quilts before ours.    Mine probably start from when I started quilting,  which was not long after we shifted from Gippsland to Wangaratta,  then Oxley then back to Wangaratta.
I have a friend that introduced me to a couple of the local groups,  and I fell in love with it.    I had actually done my first wholecloth quilt in High School,  a cot quilt.  If I find it I will put a pic up of it.

The next attempt was when I lived in Melbourne,  I decided to recover an old couch and chairs that I had in a Unit.  Using a recipe lid for a template,  I managed to make a double bedspread and some covers for the cushions on the chairs,  in fabric that I had bought with me from mum and dads.   So I was really reintroduced to quilting by my friend.

I went to the groups and also did a few classes at the local quilt shop.  Then my friend wanted to have a quilt quilted or was picking up one I don't remember which,  and I went with her to the local longarm quilting person.    It was a great experience.

HI, I haven't put anything on here for a very long time, but here I am. Yesterday I had a spare afternoon so decided to make my Kindle a cover, finally, after I had started one and nearly finished it a while ago, it is out with the lost stuff in my workroom. This one I have finished in one afternoon.

Hey, its a good day.

Well, I've finished another bag, this one is for myself, just an easy pattern.

I also have one of my quilts on my quilting machine, this doesn't happen very often, all I have to do now is actually quilt it, you will be pleased to know that I have started it.

It has been waiting for about 3/4 years. Being an applique quilt, I will be doing lots of background fillers in it. The quilt is a month by month one that I finished, the other month by month one that I got at the same time is still in the bag waiting. Yeah we eventually get them done!

See ya next time,

Lynne

Hi all, I hope you are having a good day, I haven't posted for a while, so I thought I would update with all the quilts and things that I have finished this year, well most of them I think there are a couple that I have done but forgotten about. The first photo is the back of one that I finished for my dear friend Jeanette, she and her husband are very good friends of ours that have helped us when we needed it. And yes it is finished and in its new home. The front of it is above.

This one the cat approved of, here he is checking it out to see if it has enough batting in it so he can be comfortable when he sleeps on it, not that he is going to. It was one I did a few years ago in a class with Jan Preston. And my good friend Nellie who finished hers years ago and has it on her wall. It was a great class.

The photo below is part of a whole cloth I did on satin for another friends 50th, it was only a few months late. As I couldn't get to her party, as my father was sick at the time. I had a lot of fun with this quilt, it started being completely different until I discovered the pattern I wanted to do had too many stops and starts so I decided to start with a block in the middle and work out with different freehand borders. They are always fun to do. A picture of the whole quilt is down lower.

This is a bit of playing with threads and painted fabric.

A cushion cover for the lounge which is now falling apart so I will have to rethink the way I quilted it next time because most of my cushions get used an awful lot so they need to just about be made out of canvas. The fabric I used in the background is woven strips of bem silk that I have a lot of.

Well this is the satin quilt, which I was very pleased with I even managed to bind it in the satin. That's all I have, I am now going out to my air conditioned workroom to finish a custom quilt for a customer. Its 41 today and overcast so not feeling so hot. Hope you had fun looking
Hugs Lynne
